Emerson Stage continues its dedication to Theatre for Young Audiences with a story of immigration in Esperanza Rising playing the Cutler Majestic Theatre November 12-21. Directed by Roxanne Schroeder-Arce, this play follows the journey of a young girl, Esperanza, from her native Mexico to the fields of Southern California. Based on the book by Pam Muñoz Ryan and adapted for the stage by Lynne Alvarez, the play confronts cultural difference while sharing a message of hope.
Esperanza Rising is aimed towards students in grades 5 through 8. This production runs two hours including one intermission.
